ENVERITAS

Summary

PROJECT MANAGER – VIETNAM

Enveritas is looking for an exceptional talent for helping set-up and lead its Vietnam operations. Starting period would be as volunteer for 6 months (generous cash stipend + covering of all housing, travel and work-related expenses), before converting to a long-term full-time position.

AGRONOMIST – VIETNAM

Enveritas is looking for an exceptional talent for helping lead its Vietnam operations. Ideal candidate will have an outstanding experience in agronomy/coffee and a strong interest in Operations (i.e. developing and implementing new projects).

Background

Enveritas is a startup nonprofit that offers a new model of verifying sustainability in the coffee sector. It was founded in 2016 and is headquartered in New York. We have a diverse, global team with backgrounds in sustainable agriculture, management consulting, technology, data science, and public policy. To complement this team, we are looking for a highly-motivated Agronomist that could both manage projects and develop innovative approaches in Vietnam.

We are building solutions for smallholder coffee farmers that are currently beyond the reach of existing sustainability certification or verification approaches. Consumers are increasingly asking if the brands they trust are “sustainable” – that is, produced under acceptable social, economic and environmental practices. Companies have responded by setting targets for becoming “100% sustainable”. However, existing approaches for verifying sustainability face challenges reaching farmers that are too small, too remote, or informally organized. We’ve developed a rigorous, scalable and transparent method of verification that works in this “underserved space” and are rolling it out globally.

The Role

Your role will be to assist Enveritas in establishing its Vietnam presence. Such tasks will involve taking on leadership on a number of specific projects: developing and implementing new ways to explore sustainability issues in Vietnam and help smallholder coffee farmers, leading our verification efforts alongside our Operations team members, training our verification teams on agronomy and coffee farming, and managing relationships with local implementers and stakeholders.

Enveritas will invest heavily in your growth and success. We recognize that we will need to attract and retain exceptional talent in order to fulfill our vision of reaching 100% of the world’s coffee farmers across 30+ countries. You will have the backing of a global team with deep experience in coffee sustainability and technology to help you reach your goals. We offer a fun, open, flat, and agile work culture that mitigates the communication challenges posed by being a global organization.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of relevant work experience in coffee / agronomy / sustainability
  • Willingness to spend extended periods of time (or to live) in the Central Highlands, with regular travels to Hanoi / Ho Chi Minh City
  • Experience or strong interest in Operations
  • Excellent academic record (top marks), in agronomy or in a relevant subject
  • Clear track record of working in a fast-paced, team environment
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills
  • A driving desire to alleviate poverty and make the world a better place
  • Vietnamese national
  • Fluency in English
